☆ March Curriculum ☆ Reading: We will be working on Unit 4, "Research Clubs: Elephants, Penguins, and Frogs, Oh, My!" this month. Students are currently working on researching an animal! They will be working on subtopics such as, bodies, babies, food, enemies, and habitat. They will then work on presenting the information using Google Slides. Bend 1: Researching the Topic Lesson 1: Revving Up for a Research Project: Readers Orient Themselves to a Text Set Lesson 2: Cross-Text Synthesis Lesson 3: Using the Lingo of Experts Lesson 4: Zeal Matters: Pursuing Collaborative Inquiries with Commitment Lesson 5: Growing Ideas about Nonfiction Lesson 6: Researchers Ask Questions Writing: The students will begin their biography reports this month. "The Art of Information Writing" will help to guide the instruction for this research project. The kids will research their famous person and then work on a five paragraph essay and project. Spelling: The students will receive a new spelling sort this week and the test will be on Friday, March 20th. Math: Module 7 covers Geometry and Measurement Word Problems. Topic A: Solving Word Problems Topic B: Attributes of Two-Dimensional Figures Topic C: Problem Solving with Perimeter Mid Module Assessment Topic D: Recording Perimeter and Area Data on Line Plots Topic E: Problem Solving with Perimeter and Area End of Module Assessment Social Studies: We are currently in Unit 4 where we focus on rules and laws of our country, the role of citizenship in the promotion of rules and laws, and the consequences for people who violate rules and laws.
